The room the hotel gave Greg was bland, had an unusual funk, and the TV didn't work. It was another lonely night on the road of another boring business trip for him. The meeting tomorrow was later in the morning, so Greg decided to go downstairs to the bar. He sat there and had a couple of drinks while playing on his phone until a beautiful woman approached him. She made small talk at first, but then they got more comfortable with each other. She kept pulling out her pink lighter every time Greg reached for a cigarette. She finally mentioned that she was there for a gala in the hotel ballroom for an organization she worked for. She invited Greg to the ballroom where he quickly realized he was very underdressed, but he didn't care, and neither did the woman. They danced for what felt like hours, softly touching each other and kissing every so often. They were having so much fun, even after she lost that pink lighter she loved so much. The music was loud, the laughs were boisterous. Greg kept drinking, though most of it kept falling on his fancy tuxedo. All of his friends and co-workers were gathered around laughing. He looked over at the woman and saw her face begin to blur. She kept trying to tell him something but he didn't understand her. He tried drinking again but couldn't see his glass. He felt the now warm drink trickle down his head. The drink kept pouring down his head until he wiped it from his face and could see that it was blood. He still couldn't see her face but tried to hold on to her until he accidentally let go of her and then she was gone. Greg woke up and looked around. It was that same smelly room again with the broken TV. He saw several small unopened bottles of whiskey on the bed next to him from the open bar. He quickly put them all back in the bar and sat back on the bed in a feverish sweat. That nightmare comes and goes every night but he never gets used to it. Greg will never forget the night he lost his wife after the party to his drunken stupidity. He laid back against the bed post to try and relax, but felt something under his leg. He reached under and pulled out the lighter she lost that night.
